Research

St John’s is committed to academic innovation and research. The College opened its unique Research Centre in 2001 and has a thriving community of researchers, with more Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) than any other Oxford College.

We support our JRFs as the young academics of the future and the new life-blood of the tutorial system. In their three or four years at College, JRFs push forward the boundaries of knowledge in their chosen field and bring new research ideas and opportunities for collaboration that benefit the entire College.

Exciting and important research occurs in the Research Centre and would not have been possible without College funding. Moreover, our Research Centre also helps support our talented academics by offering them the unique prospect of inter-disciplinary work with College funding.

We wish to fund more research projects, and attracting and financing JRFs is a competitive and expensive undertaking. By supporting research at St John’s, you can help nurture the academic leaders of the future and make certain we continue to attract and retain some of the world’s best scholars.
