University Challenge

Tuesday 06 Apr 2010

In this year’s University Challenge, 100 teams applied to the programme, 28 of them competed across 36 matches, and attempted 3250 questions.

The St John’s team ploughed their way through the competition in impressive style but were finally beaten on 5 April in the last round by Emmanuel College Cambridge with a score of 100 points to 315.

Congratulations to our challengers for getting all the way to the Final and for providing the College and alumni with so much excitement – and loss of fingernails - along the way!

Captain 'Red' George Woudhuysen, Oliver 'The OC' Chen, Loren Parry and David 'True Blue' Townsend beat Durham, Loughborough, Girton college Cambridge and Manchester, then defeated Imperial College London in the Semi-Finals.
