St John's has topped the Norrington table – the Oxford equivalent of an academic league table.
Devised by Sir Arthur Norrington – President of Trinity in the 1960s – the Norrington table provides a way of measuring the performance of students at each college in Finals by awarding a score of five to a First class degree, three to a 2:1 degree, two to a 2:2 degree and one to a Third class degree. The total score is expressed as a percentage of the maximum possible score. This enables the Norrington table to rank the colleges in order of their success in Finals.
This year, St John’s College has been ranked number one with a score of 76.51% – just ahead of former table leaders Merton. St John’s also achieved the highest number of First Class degrees with 48 in total. Congratulations to all our hard-working Finalists!
A full breakdown of all the results by college is available on the University’s Norrington Table pages.
