On Saturday 6 February, Wolfgang Zerer gave the Hilary term recital at St John’s.
He celebrated the innovation and excitement of the Baroque with a stunning programme of European music. One of the great highlights of the evening was the performance of Georg Muffat’s Toccata Decima (from Apparatus musico-organisticus). The music was brought to life as Zerer displayed his command of the instrument.
In Clérambault’s Suite du deuxième ton, M. Aubertin’s fine organ was shown off in the very best possible style as the chapel was transported to 18th Century France. A truly exciting recital.
Next term, we welcome the legendary Jacques van Oortmersen on 22 May 2010. For further details, please see the Celebrity Organ Recital entry in our Events section.
