St John’s alumnus Jason Kingsley, co-founder of Rebellion and chairman of UK trade association TIGA, has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen's birthday honours list.
Jason Kingsley (1984, Zoology) co-founded Rebellion in 1991 with his brother Chris, who attended Wadham College. It is now a leading computer games and publishing company, employing around 200 people at its Oxford base.
Kingsley was given the award for services to the economy. In a TIGA press release, CEO Richard Wilson said:
"Jason's recognition is well-deserved. He has combined creative and artistic vision with business and commercial success. Under Jason's direction, Rebellion has achieved 19 worldwide number ones. Everybody at TIGA is delighted that his work within the videogame sector has been recognised in such an important way."
