Alumni database
St John’s transfered to a new alumni database in 2011. Known as the Development and Alumni Relations System (DARS), the database holds details of alumni, current students, staff and friends which were previously held in separate alumni and development databases of the University and the participating colleges. The result is a single, comprehensive database allowing, on a regulated basis, colleges, faculties, departments, administrative units, international offices, recognised alumni societies, and sports and other clubs associated with the University access to all the data held in it.
We hope that this new system will lead to the details of our alumni, students, staff and friends being kept more up to date and that it will help improve our communications with you. For past and present members of St John’s, we and any other college(s) you still have affiliations with will be your primary contact within the collegiate University (if you wish us to be); DARS is not changing this.
DARS also has an online networking function which allows you to update your contact details online. Currently this needs to be accessed via the University Alumni Site, but St John’s will be launching its own online community (also linked to DARS) later this year. This will allow you to update contact details online from a link on the St John's alumni pages, and, in time, book events using a credit card and communicate directly with each other via a secure space on the College website. We very much hope that you will find these improvements useful and we shall continue to work with colleagues across the University to improve DARS and so enhance online networking opportunities for St John’s alumni.
