Applications for the next academic year are now welcome. There shall be no more than two associates at any one time, and their tenure is approved by the Governing Body on the recommendation of the Research Centre Management Committee.

  • Association is for a period not longer than 12 months, nor shorter than three months.
  • A Visiting Associate must organise or give a seminar in the Research Centre during each term of association.
  • The support of the Research Centre must be acknowledged in any publications emerging from research undertaken in Oxford.
  • The associate is eligible for a room or share of a room in the Research Centre, and the same dining rights as other Research Centre Associates, but no salary, research allowance or residential accommodation - other than a request to be considered should accommodation become available during vacation periods.

The scheme is competitive; appointment may be made from a field of applicants either gathered by advertisement or on the recommendation of members of the Governing Body, provided that the Management Committee shall take a continuing overview of all appointments to ensure that an open and uniformly competitive process of appointment is maintained.

Applications must be received by 18 June 2010 in the form of a letter outlining the work to be undertaken in Oxford and a CV. They should be addressed to Professor Linda McDowell, Director of the Research Centre, St John’s College, Oxford OX1 3JP.
