Telephone Campaign
This summer, our team of 14 student callers took up the challenge of contacting hundreds of alumni to update them on College news, seek their input about events and publications and ask for their support for the Alumni Fund. They worked very hard over two weeks, managing to converse with over 700 alumni and raising over £160,000 in gifts and pledges.
The Alumni Fund is an opportunity for our community of alumni and friends to help St John’s meet immediate and ongoing needs. The College is greatly encouraged by the growth of our network of benefactors: over 1000 alumni and friends now support St John’s financially. Their gifts and yours will help us to preserve and enhance the College for the benefit of present and future members. The core areas we seek to augment are the funding of our tutorial system and bursaries for needy students, support for research, and the maintenance and improvement of our historic buildings and facilities.
The continuing quality of St John’s and its long-term future depends on sustained support from as many alumni as possible, through gifts of all sizes. Above all else, it is alumni participation that matters.
This year our Telephone Campaign was supported by the University, as an integral part of Oxford Thinking, the Campaign for the University of Oxford. All gifts to St John’s counted towards the Campaign; alumni also had the opportunity to contribute to other areas that may have been of interest – a Faculty or Department, one of the University’s museums, the Bodleian Library, or one of the University’s sports facilities.
