Terence Cave
The Director’s principal task is to look for ways of creating (a) connections between the different sub-projects, and (b) convergence in the conceptual and methodological evolution of the project as a whole. Find out more about Terence on his profile page.
Deputy Directors
Raphael Lyne
Raphael is also a Research Lecturer in the project. He is working on the application of cognitive methodologies to early modern English literature, and is primarily responsible for providing back-up to the Director in the cognitive strand of the project.
Wes Williams
Wes Williams, who is University Lecturer in French at the University of Oxford, works on early modern French culture. He is primarily responsible for providing back-up to the Director in the historical strand of the project.
Balzan Postdoctoral Research Fellows
Karin Kukkonen
Karin works on poetological rules, exploring how they interface with cognitive processes and how they provide successful solutions for particular problems of storytelling. Find out more about Karin on her profile page.
Olivia Smith
Olivia joins the project from Queen Mary, University of London. Her research, which centres on John Locke, investigates the function of literature as an instrument of thought in the seventeenth century. Find out more about Olivia on her profile page.
