Tabassum Rasheed

Name: Tabassum Rasheed

Subject: PPE

Year in College: Third

Home Town: Warwick, UK

Interests and Activities: Cherwell reporter, Managing Director of Cherwell's publishing company, President of the European Affairs Society, SJC Peer Supporter, Model UN participant, one-time director of SJCTV. I also enjoy dancing, writing, photography, politics of the developing world, volunteering with the Oxford Museums, travelling to far-flung lands, and learning languages.

Career Aspirations: Although past aspirations have varied from astronaut to classical Indian dancer, my current goal is to do Masters studies in International Development or the politics of the Middle East and spend a few years working abroad, possibly with human rights monitoring groups.

Favourite thing about SJC: The welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I first walked into John's everyone from the porters and my tutors to members of the JCR and MCR have been warm and supportive. Also the gardens are the perfect setting for plays, revision, or even water fights!

How can alumni support help the College? Given the current economic situation, alumni support is vital to make sure that the College can keep up its fantastic record of supporting its students. But even beyond financial help, getting back in touch and getting to know current students would be a great way to contribute to College life.
