Teaching Interests
I joined St. John’s in April, 2009, and am the Tutorial Fellow in Biochemistry beginning Michaelmas Term 2009. I tutor a wide range of topics within biochemistry, in addition to lecturing in the Department of Biochemistry.
Research Interests
Proteins are the molecular tools of biological cells. Broadly, my research interests are centered on understanding how the structures and physical properties of proteins give rise to their function. I work with proteins that are embedded in cell walls that allow for transport of matter and information into and out of cells. Two specific projects in the lab focus on understanding antiviral drug resistance of a protein found in the influenza virus envelope, and the structure and regulation of a receptor-linked, ion channel found in human neurones.
