Professor Philip K Maini
Professorial Fellow in Mathematical Biology
Teaching Interests
I lecture on various applied mathematics courses for the undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mathematical Sciences.
Research Interests
I am Director of the Centre for Mathematical Biology, which is part of the Mathematical Institute. We use differential equations to model spatiotemporal phenomena in the life sciences, ranging from investigating the effectiveness of different drug treatments of cancer, to researching spatial pattern formation in developmental biology, to understanding how tree diversity arises in rainforests. These seemingly very different application areas all share common mathematical descriptions. Further details of our activities are available at the Centre for Mathematical Biology website.
