Teaching Interests

I joined St. John's in 2007 from the University of Bristol. For finals (third and fourth years) I have teaching interests in Early Modern Philosophy, Logic and Language, and Ancient Philosophy (in Greek and Latin and in translation). For prelims (first years), I teach Logic and General Philosophy, and for Classics mods (second years), I teach Early Greek Philosophy, Plato's Euthyphro and Meno, and Lucretius' De Rerum Natura.

Research Interests

My main research interests are in Ancient Greek philosophy, especially Plato, the Presocratics and Aristotle. I completed my Ph.D. thesis at the University of Bristol in 2006 on the translation and interpretation of Plato's Parmenides. I am currently working on theories of metaphysics, essence and explanation in Greek philosophy.
