Professor Kevin Gatter

Professor Kevin Gatter

Fellow by Special Election in Clinical Medicine

Teaching Interests

I am actively involved in diagnostic clinical work so the bulk of my teaching is based in the hospital with clinical students and trainee doctors. I am a college supervisor for St John's clinical students (along with Dr Pandit).

Research Interests

I co-direct the Cancer Research UK tumour pathology group in the John Radcliffe Hospital. This is part of the CR-UK clinical centre in Oxford (recently rated alpha ++) and works closely with clinical groups looking at manipulating basic mechanisms within a wide range of human cancers in order to gain a treatment advantage. Over the last few years we have concentrated on tumour blood supply, how it differs from normal and how it is controlled especially by hypoxia.

Other Information

In my clinical work I am responsible for the diagnosis of haematological diseases in the pathology department and work closely with clinical colleagues in Haematology. I am also currently head of the University Clinical Department of Pathology.
