Donate to St John's

St John’s College continues to excel, however, we face growing challenges:

  • Our students, no longer supported to the same level by government grants, are turning to us for help to stay in College, to participate in collegiate life and to continue on to graduate study. Students are leaving College with significant debts, which could reach over £50,000 following the rise in tuition fees to £9,000 per year
  • Government funding for teaching is decreasing, as is funding for research.
  • We must increasingly compete for students and Fellows with much better-funded universities around the world. The costs of operating the tutorial system remain high. St John’s, like other Oxford Colleges, subsidises each UK/EU undergraduate we educate by more than £7,000 per annum.
How can our alumni and friends help?
  • Donate to the Alumni Fund
  • Donate to one of the three Fellowship Funds raising money to support the Fellowships that are currently most at risk.

At St John’s, we refuse to compromise our standard of education or any aspects of our collegiate life. To continue to thrive we are planning for a future where greater fiscal autonomy will be essential. We need your help in making certain our way of education continues to flourish, particularly in this time of great change and cutbacks. We are very grateful to all those who have already given to the College.
