Vikings Found at SJC

Monday 15 Nov 2010

When building work began on Kendrew Quadrangle, a mass grave of human bones was discovered. It was clear from injuries such as stab wounds and cracked skulls that the victims had been brutally murdered. Now, after two years of patient detective work, archaeologists have managed to work out who the victims were. They even know the date on which they were murdered almost 1000 years ago!

Find out all about them in the articles on the Oxford Times website and on the Smithsonian website.

You can see also some photos of the bones and skulls that were found at Kendrew in the Launch and Exhibition page of our Kendrew Quadrangle section.
