The Russell Society has great pleasure in inviting you to the Russell Society Dinner on Saturday 14 March 2020, for alumni who studied Classics or Classics related subjects. We hope you will join us in March to celebrate Donald Russell in the year in which he will turn 100, new Classics Fellows, and the successes of St John's Classics.
The programme for the evening is as follows:
7:00pm Drinks reception in the Long Gallery
7:30pm Dinner in Hall
Tickets cost £34 for alumni. Places are allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis, and due to high demand for spaces unfortunately we are not able to accommodate guests. The dress code is Black Tie.
The Faculty of Classics will run the triennial Classics Alumni Day on Saturday 14 March.
There will be a series of academic talks on current research in the Faculty, including Dominik Maschek (‘From the Siege of Fregellae (125 BCE) to Operation Diadam (1944): Battlefield archaeology in the territory of Ceprano (Lazio)’), Ine Jacobs (‘Aphrodisias' Fifth Avenue’), Aneurin Ellis-Evans (‘The Forests of Mt. Ida’), Gail Trimble (‘Depicting Ariadne’) and Christopher Metcalf ('Tales of kings and cupbearers in history and myth').
Proceedings will start at 11 a.m. and end by 5 p.m.
The Faculty has earmarked 15 places for attendees of the Russell Society dinner. These will be allocated on a first come/first served basis
