St. John’s College invite applications for a 0.5 FTE College Lectureship in Philosophy. The appointment is available for the period 1st October 2024 – 30th September 2025. This is a temporary, fixed-term position and will therefore not be extended or renewed.

St John’s admits around 13-15 undergraduates each year to read Philosophy, always as part of a Joint Schools degree with one or two other subjects. Specifically, St John’s admits students for Philosophy, Politics, and Economics; Modern Languages and Philosophy; Philosophy and Theology; Philosophy and Psychology; and Classics (Literae Humiores).

The salary will be £18, 012 per annum this is based on a 0.5 FTE of point 1 of the University scale, grade 7, currently £36,024 per annum and is dependent on experience and qualifications, this figure will be adjusted to the equivalent of university scale point 1, grade 6 for candidates who do not hold a doctorate.
