In addition to our Study Days, we also offer Subject Exploration Days in certain subjects, which are open to applications from both state and independent schools.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 public health situation, St John’s College events are now being hosted virtually until further notice. We will provide updated details here if and when the situation changes, but for now it should be assumed that no in-person events will be going ahead unless explicitly stated otherwise.

We are delighted to be able to offer some of our Study Exploration Days in an online format, as highlighted below. Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time, and if you have any questions, please get in touch using the options below.

Virtual Subject Exploration Days offer talks and workshops led by tutors, a chance to find out more about the course at Oxford and what tutors are looking for, and hear from some current St John's students. We often issue some preparatory reading in advance of our Virtual Subject Exploration Days which will then form the basis of the seminars.

Capacity for our Virtual Subject Exploration Days is greater than that for in-person events. However, where events are oversubscribed, selection is based on academic merit, using GCSE or National 5 performance. Participants must be predicted to achieve at least AAA at A level or AAAAB/AAAAA in Scottish Highers (or equivalent). Where candidates from the Scottish system can offer Advanced Highers we would expect AA (for two subjects) or AAB (for three subjects). Places are generally limited to two per school/college, although larger establishments may be offered more places.

All Virtual Subject Exploration Days are free of charge. Where possible, talks and other sessions will be recorded and uploaded so that students may access the sessions at a time convenient to them.
