We were delighted to welcome artist Chloe Dewe Mathews back to St John's on Tuesday 11 February for the opening of our exhibition of portraits of St John's women.

The exhibition brings together the portraits commissioned as part of our '2000 Women' celebrations.

In the 2013-14 academic year the 2000th woman matriculated at St John's, 34 years after women were first admitted to the College in 1979, and as part of our celebrations we commissioned a series of pictures of St John's women.

This year we are marking 40 years of women at St John's, and we are thrilled to be displaying these portraits, which are currently on display at locations around College, together in the Barn.

On Tuesday 11 February we were delighted to welcome the artist, Chloe Dewe Mathews, back to St John's for the official opening of the exhibition. Following a speech given by Fellow for Women Professor Katherine Southwood, Chloe spoke about how much she had enjoyed visiting different spaces within the College to take the photos and finding out more about the wide variety of women who feature in them.

The exhibition runs from Tuesday 11 to Monday 17 February, and is open every day from 11am-6pm in the Barn on St Giles. All are welcome.
