Alumnus The Hon. Mr Justice Warby appointed as Lord Justice of Appeal

The Hon. Mr Justice Mark Warby (1977, Jurisprudence) will join the Court of Appeal in Autumn 2020

Warby.jpgThe Hon. Mr Justice Mark Warby (1977, Jurisprudence) has been appointed as Lord Justice of Appeal by the Queen. 

The Hon. Mr Justice Warby was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn in 1981 and took Silk in 2002. His early practice as a barrister included commercial litigation and arbitration. Later he developed specialisms in media law litigation and sports law. He is the joint editor and a co-author of The Law of Privacy and the Media, which was published in 2016 by Oxford University Press.

He was made a Bencher in 2007. He was appointed a Recorder in 2009, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2013 and a High Court Judge in the Queen’s Bench Division in 2014. He has been Judge in Charge of the Media and Communications List since 2017 and Chair of the High Court Judges’ Association since 2019.

He will fill one of the forthcoming vacancies in the Court of Appeal from Autumn 2020.
