Proving that our student teams are not the only sporting talent to be found at St John’s, Ian Madden cycled from London to Brighton in aid of the Silverlining Brain Charity.

Ian’s day started bright and early at 4.30am, arriving in London to begin the 55-mile cycle ride at 8.50am. Despite hitting a few bumps on the road and adverse weather conditions (some of the only rain in the country was falling across Brighton!), Ian smashed his original goal time of 6 hours, clocking in at an impressive 4 hours 50 minutes. Ian was greeted at the finish line by Tara, Ellis and Luke Parry, whose huge efforts recovering from a traumatic brain injury inspired Ian to help raise money.

The Silverlining Brain Charity offers opportunities for all those affected by brain injury to get involved in exciting and purposeful activities in the community. The charity relies on donors and fundraisers to continue their work, and at last count Ian has raised over £2300.

If you would like to donate, Ian’s fundraising page is still open at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/IanMadden2/1.

A huge congratulations to Ian from all of us here at St John’s!
