Michael Riordan
Biography
As Head of Libraries and Archives I’m responsible for managing the College’s Library and Study Centre and the College’s Archive.
The Library & Study Centre plays a key role in St John’s College’s academic life. It maintains an active, student-focussed undergraduate library, whilst also being a repository for the College’s collections of historic books, consisting of some 20,000 early printed books, 400 manuscripts, and the personal libraries of A.E. Housman and Robert Graves. More information on the Library and Study Centre can be found on the website here and on the College’s intranet site here.
The College Archive holds the institutional records of the College, including information about former students and members of staff, and about estates owned by the College. It has a particularly strong collection of property records relating to houses in North Oxford, previously owned by the College. For more information about the Archive see here.
