Artist-in-Residence Welcome Reception

With the start of this Trinity Term, we welcome Lara Smithson as our new Artist-in-Residence. Lara works across a variety of media, spanning drawing, costume, video, installation and sculpture. In 2021-2 she was a Bridget Riley Fellow at the British School at Rome. During her residency she will be looking into ‘the juxtaposition of the body as sacrosanct, yet also as something to be torn apart, simulated, cloned for the sake of devotion and science’. She seeks to contrast historical and traditional knowledge with the modern scientific understanding of the human body via the medium of art. She will have works on display, show a short film, and start a conversation with a brief introduction to her work. Come chat about her work and your own interests over wine!
