This is the first chance to see the art and science project Flows by Kate Hammersley, artist-in-residence at the Department of Engineering, supported by Arts Council England.
  • Date 22 October 2019 - 5.30 p.m. - 22 October 2019 - 7.30 p.m.
  • Location The Barn, St John's College

Hammersley worked with the University of Oxford Department of Engineering Science alongside scientist Dr Tobias Hermann who researches cooling systems for space craft re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere.  This event will show the artist’s split-screen film and performance drawing which consider the links between art, science and the wider world together with the First Law of Thermodynamics, which states that energy can’t be created or destroyed, it can only be transferred from one state to another.  Kate Hammersley and Dr Hermann will be giving a brief talk about their research at 6pm.
