At the end of the seventeenth century, Oxford Physic Garden was lauded as a place to visit and study. However, what plants were being grown? The first keepers of the Garden, Jacob Bobart Senior and Junior, left printed catalogues and manuscript lists of plants using the Latin names of the day. They also made herbarium specimens which have survived to the present day. The specimens are the link between the Bobarts' names and modern plant names. This talk uses plants growing in the Garden to address the question of how the Garden was being used at the end of seventeenth century.

Attendance is free but booking is required.

There will be a drinks reception after the lecture.
