At The Kendrew Barn, Jennifer Allen aka Quilla Constance will deliver a talk and Power Point presentation about her Quilla Constance persona, with reference to her current artworks on display at the Old Fire Station gallery; to include images and video clips from previous performances and exhibitions, followed by a mini performance.
  • Date 12 August 2017 - 4.00 p.m. - 12 August 2017 - 6.00 p.m.
  • Location The Kendrew Barn, St Giles

The event will explore and discuss the construction and negotiation of ethnic minority and female identities within British society, popular culture and high art, considering if and how it might be possible for traditionally marginalized identities to change and move beyond familiar (often injurious) modes of representation and communication, whilst also questioning whether there's a need to move beyond these existing frameworks at all? How pervasive and pernicious are these so called hegemonic systems of power?

Quilla ConstanceA Q&A will follow.

Refreshments provided.
