Partly an artistic response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the isolation caused by restrictions, this solo show references locations that are abstracted, reflecting on themes of colour, movement and space. The artist begins by exploring the concepts of separation and solitude, using rich reds and oranges to reflect cosseted interior environments. As restrictions began to ease and walks in the nearby woodlands and countryside were once again possible, the palette evolves to encompass brighter tones and more mixed media.
Jon Rowland works predominantly in acrylics but increasingly mix media to include oil, ink, and collage. His paintings and commissions are in private collections in the UK and elsewhere. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, galleries in London and Oxfordshire, Battersea Art Fair and most recently, at Wolfson College in 2018 and Cornerstone Arts Centre in 2019.
This event is free and in line with COVID safety regulations.
