Ambassadors Roadshow 2019: Student Ambassadors visit 30 schools in a week

Date 16 September 2019

Six of our student ambassadors spent the week touring state schools in our Link Regions to give pupils and teachers valuable insights into studying at Oxford.

From 9 to 13 September, Jola, Susie, Abdul, Maddy, Cas and Céline visited around 30 schools in Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex, and Ealing and Harrow, talking to a total of around 700 students. At each school they gave a presentation with some more information about the University of Oxford, and answered questions on the application process and life at Oxford.

Teachers and pupils commented on how useful it was to hear about the students’ first-hand experiences of studying to Oxford, and to be given some useful advice on applying to Oxbridge.

Dr Sandra Campbell, Fellow for Admissions and Access, said, “The Ambassadors Roadshow is one of the most important and influential events in the Access calendar. School pupils and teachers love to hear personal accounts of students’ individual journeys to make successful applications to Oxford, and our students also talk about an average day in Oxford, showing that a good work-life balance is not only essential, but also possible. It’s so valuable for the pupils to be able to benefit from the students’ unique perspective, having recently gone through the application process and started at Oxford themselves.”

Thank you very much to our Ambassadors for all of their hard work over the course of the week, and good luck to all of the pupils who are submitting university applications!
