A busy time for Outreach and Admissions

With the undergraduate applications process well underway for this year, St John’s Outreach team has been busy visiting state schools in our linked regions of Ealing, Harrow, East & West Sussex, and Brighton & Hove.

Outreach school visit

Our Access and Outreach Officer Emma Coulson has been running multi-school sessions for year 13 students intending to make an application to Oxford or Cambridge. In the past couple of weeks Emma has spoken to over 150 Year 13 students from 28 schools and colleges. The sessions have included an overview of the application process as well as advice on personal statements, admissions tests and interviews.

One teacher commented, 'The students were really inspired, and have been working hard on editing their personal statements in light of the advice Emma gave them.' 

Another added, 'I sit through these sessions each year and still latch on to yet another way I can help the students with their personal statements.'
