Our photo competition winners for August and September have just been announced.

This year we decided to run our annual Photo Competition despite the change of circumstances due to Coronavirus, inviting students and staff from across the College community to submit photos summing up their experiences of lockdown.

The winners of August and September’s monthly prizes represent the breadth of the St John’s community, including students and academic and non-academic staff. Entries were judged by Dr Georgy Kantor, Professor Hannah Skoda and members of the Communications team.

Congratulations to Adam Packer, Ana Stuhec, Maren Fichter and Professor Zoltán Molnár for winning the prizes for August and September! The judges enjoyed the whimsical nature of Adam’s photo of a cat exploring the College gardens (Trinity College’s cat, Artemis, paying a visit to its next door neighbours), and thought that Maren’s photo of a flowering cactus was a positive image of lockdown. Ana’s photo was praised for the artistic nature of the building reflections in the glass of one of the windows in College, while Zoltán’s photo conveyed the ability to still have fun in these trying times.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted photos to our competition – and congratulations to the latest set of monthly winners! The main competition will soon be judged by eminent photographers Chloe Dewe Mathews and Joanna Vestey, so watch this space to find out who will win the coveted main prizes…
