Sid Smith

Sid was a calm, respected, professional porter, liked by students, fellows, staff and visitors. 

With his 20 years’ experience he was seen as a father figure to many students and trained most porters still working in the lodge. Alumni would always ask of Sid at Gaudies, and anytime alumni returned to Oxford. 

Sid was a family man as a husband, a father and a grandfather. He will leave a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be sadly missed by all. St John’s college porters lodge will not be the same without his huge smile and helpful nature.
