Sports Dinner celebrates the sporting achievements of College members

On 12 May the annual Sports Dinner celebrated the rich diversity of sporting talent in College, and awarded prizes to some exceptional individuals and teams.

Sports Dinner 2017St John's students, Fellows and staff take their sport very seriously. Every year a committee invites nominations for a range of Sports Prizes. The winners, nominees and all who take part in sport are celebrated at the annual Sports Dinner.

This year, sportsmen and sportswomen met in the President's Lodgings for drinks, before assembling in Hall for dinner. After dinner, the prizes were presented by Darryl Eales, Executive Chairman of Oxford United. The following prizes were awarded: 

  • Nominees for Sportswoman of the YearSportsman of the Year: Eoin Finnegan
  • Sportswoman of the Year: Jenny Smith
  • Male Sports Team of the Year: Football
  • Female Sports Team of the Year: Football
  • Mixed Sports Team of the Year: Tennis
  • Sports Officer's Special Prize: Kai Laddiman
  • Captains' Award for Outstanding Service to College Sport: Ian Madden

The festivities continued in the College Bar, where special cocktails were served to mark the occasion.
