Two Gaudies welcome alumni back to College
On 17 March, alumni from matriculation years 1993-94 returned to College for a Gaudy Dinner. At pre-dinner drinks in the President's Lodgings there was a really lively atmosphere, as alumni were reacquainted with each other and their tutors.
A superb four-course dinner in Hall followed. The President, Professor Maggie Snowling, spoke to the assembled alumni. She updated them on developments in College, including new buildings, academic successes, and outreach activities, and reminded them of some events from their time here, such as the completion of Garden Quad, many drama and sporting successes, and the election of a female JCR President. She spoke of the value of strong institutions of high integrity and purpose in these times of upheaval, and their role in helping to bind us together. Further dessert was then served in the SCR, followed by more imbibing.
On 25 March, we held a Gaudy Lunch for matriculation years 2009, 2010 and 2011. The College was looking its best in the sunshine, as it welcomed back many alumni for the first time since they had left. Drinks were held in the SCR, followed by lunch in Hall which was filled to capacity. It was a very lively, happy event, with much reminiscing over an excellent four-course lunch.
