Biography

I have worked on a number of aspects of British political, economic and social history. At the moment I am working on the history of sport, especially on the relationship between sport and emotion, and the history and culture of juvenile delinquency in the twentieth century, in the English-speaking world – mainly in Britain and the United States. I also write on comparative themes in British and Australian history – particularly on those areas where we would expect them to be similar but where they actually differ.
