Inspire Summer Schools
All pupils on our Inspire Programmes are invited to take part in summer challenge week. We also host residential summer schools for Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 on our Inspire Programmes. Places for these are competitive and pupils will be invited to apply when applications open.
Residential Summer Schools
In 2026 we are running four residential summer schools between 26th July and 13th August. The Year 9 Summer School will run from 26th - 28th July, Year 10 from 30th - 1st August, Year 11 from 3rd - 6th August, and Year 12 from 10th - 13th August.
Our summer schools are the perfect opportunity to explore a range of different subjects, make friends with students from other schools and stay overnight in St John’s halls of residence. They are free to attend and priority is given to students on the Inspire Scholars Programme, Inspire Critical Thinking and Inspire Year 12.
Summer Challenge Week
All pupils registered on either Inspire Critical Thinking, Inspire Scholars and Inspire Year 12 are invited to participate in our summer challenge week. This includes a choice of academic challenges, virtual museum tours and a poster/essay competition. Participants will be emailed directly with details of how to access the materials.

Support and Assistance
St John's College is committed to ensure that everyone can take advantage of our Access and Outreach opportunities. We support those who would otherwise not be able to attend a Virtual Summer School effectively from home with the Inspire Digital Assistance Awards and also assist those unable to afford the travel costs of attending a Residential Summer School with the Inspire Travel Awards.
