Keen to come to an event at St John’s but unable to afford the travel costs?

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to visit St John’s to see for yourself what we are able to offer to our undergraduate students. If you are travelling to one of our events in College we may be able to help with a contribution towards your travel expenses. The support available will depend on the distance travelled, based on the shortest route between your home postcode and St John’s College.

Your responses to this form will give us the details we need to check if you are eligible for help with the cost of your travel. You may wish to complete this form before you make your travel plans. Once we have received and checked your details, we will contact you to confirm whether you are eligible to receive a contribution towards your travel costs, and if so, how much we can offer you. Please note that you should only apply for this award if you would otherwise be unable to attend the event.

The deadline for application submissions will be listed on the event advertising material and will typically be 2 weeks prior to the event. Please note that we are only able to offer Inspire Travel Awards for pupils.

Here’s how much you could get:


Distance from St John's/Amount

  • 20-49 miles / Up to £40
  • 50-99 miles / Up to £66
  • 100-149 miles / Up to £100
  • 150-199 miles or more / Up to £135
  • 199 miles or more / Up to £200

Travel awards will be paid by bank transfer in advance of the event you are attending. This should be a bank account belonging to you or a parent/ guardian, and you will be invited to provide these details once your application is approved.

Travel awards cannot be awarded retrospectively, and must be applied for before the event deadline. Each pupil may apply for a Travel Award once per event that they attend.
