Mags Watson is the founder of Watson Research and Training Ltd and Professor of Health Services Research and Pharmacy Practice at the University of Strathclyde.

Mags is the author of Women in Academia: Achieving Our Potential, an exploration of scholars' experiences and aspirations in Higher Education. Her work combines research, reflection, and practice to promote equity and opportunity across academic life and to support others in realising their professional and personal potential. Through her writing and consultancy, she aims to foster more inclusive and empowering academic environments.

On 13 November, Mags presented online on 'Effective Professional Practice in Academia: the role of social capital and the lived experience of women in academia' to the Women’s Network. This set out ways in which she considered that women in academia can support themselves and each other through networks to expand their social capital.

Following her example of expanding women’s academic Networks, we invited members of the Zürich Hub of the 500 Women Scientists and the Swiss Network of Women in Natural Sciences to join the event and the lively discussion that followed the presentation.
