We are delighted to welcome this year’s interview candidates to St John’s this week for their admissions interviews!

Being invited for interview at Oxford is already a fantastic achievement in its own right, as we receive applications from so many highly-qualified pupils every year, so congratulations on making it this far.

Interviews form an important part of the selection process in Oxford. They are designed to explore your intellectual potential and enthusiasm for the subject, and how you suit our system of small group or one-to-one teaching. The Oxford interview may seem like a daunting concept, but it can also be fun—this is an opportunity for you to speak with Oxford tutors about the subjects you are most interested in. Have a look at our website for some guidance on interviews and to hear from our current students about their interview experiences. You can also stay up-to-date with admissions news or learn about offers. The University has also produced a few videos and podcasts on the topic of interviews, which you can find here.

We wish you all good luck in your interviews over the next few days, and we hope that you have some time to relax and explore the rest of Oxford! Our student ambassadors are excited to meet you as well: they are here to make your stay with us as welcoming as possible, from showing you around college and eating in hall with you to organising evening entertainment.
