Image Requests & Publication Permissions
Imaging Service
Digital images for private study/ research or print/ digital publications may be requested by completing the relevant image order form below.
Requests are completed subject to staff availability, item condition, and existing commitments, and are normally handled on a small scale. At present we are not able to support bulk digitisation or large high-volume orders.
For individual requests, please use the image order form below and we will advise on feasibility and anticipated timescales.

Academic Publications
Please submit the relevant publication permission request form(s):
Print only: Permission to Publish (Print)
Digital only: Permission to Publish (Electronic)
Print & Digital: Permission to Publish (Print) & Permission to Publish (Electronic)
St John's College does not charge publication fees for academic publications.
If you do not yet have an image of the item in question, you must also submit an image order form.
Commercial Publications
Please email library@sjc.ox.ac.uk in the first instance and describe the envisioned purpose and method of publication together with a description item of which you would like to publish an image (e.g. manuscript number, shelfmark, author-title information, folio / page number).
Copyright Matters
St John's College is not the holder of copyright licences for items in its library collections. The recipient of images of items still protected by copyright is responsible for obtaining copyright permissions from the current copyright holder. The recipient of images is responsible for any copyright infringements they may commit.
By submitting an online image order you confirm that you have read and accepted St John's College's copyright notice.
Please note that the Library reserves the right to refuse supplying images from its collections for any reason.

If you would like to publish images of items in St John’s College’s Special Collections, please submit all relevant forms. This applies to all images of items in St John’s special collections regardless whether the images are supplied by the library, downloaded from Digital Bodleian, or taken by yourself or others.
If you do not yet have the image you would like to publish, you must also submit an image order form (see above).
