St John's College Alumni eNewsletter - November 2022
November 2022
Last month St John's welcomed Yaroslava Bukhta (2022, Social Anthropology) as part of Oxford's new Graduate Scholarship Scheme for Ukrainian refugees.
The scholarships, co-funded by the University and participating colleges, offer free accommodation and meals as well as a grant of £7,500 to support their study and living costs.
Commenting on receiving the scholarship, Yaroslava said:
'I appreciate the support that the University, the College and people here are providing to Ukraine, Ukrainian Scholars and me personally. My country is now fighting not only for its independence and freedom, but for true democratic values and a better future for this world. This support is extremely important and valuable.
Perhaps, the only thing I still can't adjust to is the weather - but maybe morning rowing sessions will work their magic!'

The new automated system is far more user-friendly and can be found on the Alumni Benefits page of our website.
To make a booking, you will need to enter a promotional code to identify yourself as an alumnus/a and this can be found in the monthly e-newsletter.
Please note the guest rooms are only available for alumni of the College and their guests.
