Vice-Chancellor Professor Irene Tracey's Inaugural Address

​At her Admission on 10 January 2023, Oxford University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Irene Tracey gave her inaugural address to a meeting of the University's Congregation.

Professor Irene Tracey, CBE, FMedSci, became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford on 1 January 2023. She was previously Warden of Merton College, Oxford, her alma mater. She is also Professor of Anaesthetic Neuroscience in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences.

The Silver Futures Project
Two newly commissioned works form part of Silver Futures, a Hidden Objects Oxford project that aims to explore contemporary responses to the historical process of melt and reuse of silver objects within colleges.

The Austens at St John's
On Jane Austen's 247th birthday, Mike Riordan, College Archivist, takes us through the Austen's long history at St John's - including, most significantly, Jane's father, George, and her brothers, James and Henry.

International Space Station: DPhil student lead team

A team of Oxford graduate students, led by St John's student Daniel Molland, has launched a new experiment to the International Space Station. 

Professor Molnár honoured by the Royal Society of Biology

Professor of Developmental Neuroscience and Tutorial Fellow in Human Anatomy Zoltán Molnár has been made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology.

New Year Honours 2023

Bernard Taylor (1975, Chemistry), Honorary Fellow, was appointed CVO. Additionally, Nadia Motraghi (1997, Jurisprudence) and Simon Atrill (2002, BCL), were appointed as KCs. The College warmly congratulates them!

We have recently changed the way in which alumni can check availability, book and pay for rooms within Alumni House. You can now do this all online, with rooms being confirmed immediately. The new automated system is far more user-friendly and can be found on the Alumni Benefits page of our website.

To make a booking, you will need to enter a promotional code to identify yourself as an alumnus/a and this can be found in the monthly e-newsletter.

Please note the guest rooms are only available for alumni of the College and their guests.
