What Sorrows Labour in My Parent's Breast?

Professor Brenda Stevenson, the inaugural Hilary Rodham Clinton Chair of Women's History, recently launched her new book What Sorrows Labour in My Parent's Breast? A History of the Enslaved Black Family.

Professor Nation elected Fellow of the British Academy

Professor Kate Nation FBA is a psychologist and an expert in the psychology of language. Her work has revealed how children learn to recognise words and how meaning is constructed as people read.

Inspire Subject Study Days

2023 saw record numbers of Year 12 students from non-selective state schools visiting St John's on subject-specific Study Days. These events provided an opportunity for students to engage in higher-level study in their chosen subjects. 

Bodies in Motion Exhibit

In Trinity Term we exhibited a selection of works created by St John's members who took part in the term's Life Drawing Classes. For those who missed the exhibit, a snapshot can be seen here.

Paul Ashman's retirement

After almost 40 years of service to the College Paul Ashman, Steward of Hall, will be retiring this month. Many of you will remember Paul from your time in College, and if you would like to share your best wishes for his retirement you can do so here.

Kate Montgomery's (1985, Fine Art) next one person show will be on display at the Campden Gallery in Chipping Campden  from Saturday 16 September - Saturday 7 October 2023.

We are pleased to announce that we have improved our online booking system. Alumni can check availability, book and pay for rooms within Alumni House online. The new booking system is far more user-friendly and can be found on the Alumni Benefits page of our website.

To make a booking, you will need to enter a promotional code to identify yourself as an alumnus/a and this can be found in the monthly e-newsletter.
