SJC Online: Achieving Net Zero with Professor Myles Allen
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, we have launched our SJC Online series to enable the Fellows of St John’s to connect with members of our community from wherever they are in the world.
On 2 March 2021, Professor Allen, who is Professor of Geosystem Science in the Environmental Change Institute, School of Geography and the Environment and Department of Physics, University of Oxford, and Director of the new Oxford Net Zero initiative, argued that we have to stop fossil fuels from causing global warming and that it is only fair that the industry, and its owners, take responsibility for doing this rather than leaving the cost of cleaning up our emissions to the next generation.
Myles has served on the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and is one of an Honorary member of our fellowship.
